Whether you are looking for holiday activities, shopping, or a touch of culture, there is plenty happening in the region this month. Most events are virtual or socially distanced for the safety of the community, but that doesn’t mean there is any shortage of fun! Consider the options below, but always check first before you go. Event schedules and safety procedures can change without notice.

Santa Brunch To-Go at Black Star Farms
Dec. 12 from 9am–12pm

Enjoy a delicious brunch with holiday perks this year! Purchase a brunch deal for four that includes a drive-through visit with Santa for $75. Santa will be located on the front porch and ready to hear wishlists.

 


Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Christmas Memories
Dec. 13 from 2–3:30pm @ Traverse Area District Library via Zoom

 

“Laura” will host this special event, sharing stories of her childhood and past holidays. She will reveal personal stories and some of her most precious Christmas gifts. Registration on the TADL website ahead of time is required.

Chateau Chantal Virtual Holiday Wine Tasting

Dec. 18 from 5–6pm @ Chateau Chantel via Zoom

The CEO & Certified Sommelier, Marie-Chantal Dalese, will guide participants through the delights found in their Holiday Wine Packs. The event is open to the public and the Holiday Wine Packs can be purchased ahead of time.

Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy: A Celtic Family Christmas at Home

For $20, attendees will celebrate the Christmas holiday virtually with Natalie MacMaster, her husband Donnell Leahy, and their seven children! They will share their music, tradition, and culture in this family friendly event. Activities include dancing, singing, baking, and sharing Christmas memories. Traverse City New Year’s Eve CherryT Ball Drop

This local tradition is going virtual this year! Stream the event on the CherryT Facebook page or the UpNorthLive Facebook page and website. Donations for the event are accepted and this year, proceeds go to Food Rescue of Northwest Michigan. So ring in the new year from the safety of your own home and support a good cause!

Dennos Museum Holiday Art Fair
Dec. 1-23 @ Dennos Museum Center online shop

This seasonal holiday sale has gone virtual this year. Visit shop.dennosmuseum.org to explore the hand-crafted items from more than 20 different Michigan artists, Christmas & Hanukkah gifts, arts & crafts kits, and much more. Curbside pick-up and $5 flat rate shipping are also available.

Light Up the Night
Dec.1–29, after dusk @ Bellaire

Everyone is invited to downtown Bellaire where businesses and residents have decked out their buildings with decorations and lights. Come take a driving or walking tour to experience the holiday magic!

Livestream: Interlochen Arts Academy ‘Sounds of the Season’

Dec. 15 starting at 7:30 @ Interlochen Arts Academy

Enjoy performances from students and faculty from a wide variety of disciplines during this online event. Music, dance, theatre, and visual arts will be on display. The event will be streamed at live.interlochen.org and on their Facebook page.

Free “Make & Take” Craft Kits
Dec. 13 starting at 11am @ Charlevoix Circle of Arts

Through Dec. 31 and while supplies last, drop by Charlevoix Circle of Arts to pick up a free ornament craft kit to take home and enjoy! The Circle Holiday Market provides unique gifts from more than 30 local artists (market runs until Jan. 2).
